ESH Committee & Project recruitment 2020/2021
The Erasmus Sustainability Hub is the student-led organization for sustainability at Erasmus University Rotterdam. As a collective of advocates for positive change, we are the most impactful community on campus! Our team is dedicated to spreading awareness on the topics of sustainability, and through stimulating collaboration and cooperation, we aim to encourage students and everyone to take meaningful sustainable action!
Becoming an active member at Erasmus Sustainability Hub is more than joining a student organization, it is a great opportunity for you to be part of the inspiring collective movement towards a better future. You will be working with a diverse and dynamic group of students, all striving for a common goal, and you will gain many new insights and valuable organizational skills. Your time at the Hub will be a truly unforgettable experience…
OUR COMMITTEES & PROJECTS
At the Hub, we convey our activities through various initiatives and projects. For this, we are seeking enthusiastic, passionate, and driven students to join our committees and teams, and become the change agents that the world needs.
Below are the different committees and projects at Erasmus Sustainability Hub that you can join, each with their own specific purpose and cause… Read through to find out which one aligns with your own personal passions and which position you are best suited for!
(ERASMUS FOOD LAB)
Are you passionate about food and saving the planet? Are you aware that the two go hand in hand? The Food Committee combines fun hands-on events with science-based activism to change the way we consume food on campus. Within this committee, we have an events & workshop team, online foodies and research team all working together in the state of the art kitchen at the Erasmus Food Lab.
(EDIBLE EUR, BEE THE CHANGE)
Calling all plant and bee lovers to join the inaugural Agriculture Committee! You will be responsible for leading the Edible EUR and Bee the Change initiatives along with their very founders. These comprise our very own campus garden and beehive! Both these initiatives use sustainable methods to show that we can adopt a radically different approach to agriculture.
(POST PLASTIC GENERATION)
Are you interested in politics? Do you enjoy working with people, creating effective solutions and organising events to promote change? The Waste Committee is then the right place for you! The Waste Committee is also known as Post Plastic Generation. As part of PPG, you are not just part of a team, but also the movement in the fight to tackle the global issue of waste through awareness and collaboration.
Fashionista, but make it conscious... Our Fashion Committee focuses on the promotion of sustainable, slow fashion and raising awareness about the present issues in the fashion industry. As a Fashion Committee member, you are aggregately responsible for proactively planning and executing various events and activities, as well as expanding the visibility and network of Rethink Apparel, the main brand of the Fashion pillar within the Hub.
It's a limitless world out there! Aside from Fashion, Food & Agriculture, and Waste, the Hub is also committed to various other causes and hosts numerous other activities and events which go beyond the focus of these three pillars. Thus, the Events Committee was born, and they will be team responsible for creating, developing and managing events which do not fall into any of the three categories.
MARKETING & PROMOTION COMMITTEE
Spread the word! The Marketing & Promotion Committee works to increase awareness of Hub, our mission and purpose, and conducts promotional activities for the Hub's activities. As part of this committee, not only are you responsible for the visibility of the Hub, but this is your opportunity to unleash your creativity, make engaging and meaningful content and spread valuable information on how students can get involved in creating a positive sustainable impact!
SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTING COMMITTEE
The Sustainability Consulting Committee is a brand new undertaking at the Hub. As more and more people and organizations become increasingly conscious about their impact, the Sustainability Consulting Committee seeks passionate and driven students who want to help other campus organizations become more sustainable in their day-to-day processes and activities, as well as their events.
ERASMUS SUSTAINABILITY DAYS
The Erasmus Sustainability Days are the flagship event of Erasmus Sustainability Hub and the biggest sustainability-oriented event organized at Erasmus University. Thus, the ESD Team has the remarkable task of planning and organizing the four-day event, which is set for Spring 2021.
DEAR diary project
Dear Diary... is an exciting new initiative where Erasmus students will undergo a 30 day healthy, vegan food challenge and share their progress online! This project aims to inspire a shift in the mindset of the students and to recruit advocates for a sustainable diet. The Hub is looking for managers to plan and organize the Dear Diary Project.
eur on ecosia
Ecosia is a search engine that plants trees with their income generated through search ads. And they do so successfully - since it's been founded in 2009, it has planted more than 100 million trees! The EUR on Ecosia project tries to raise awareness about this impactful search engine within the EUR community and encourage EUR students, management and faculty to use Ecosia, and thus become part of the solution to deforestation, one of the most critical challenges of our generation.
Alive is a project dedicated to practice of mindfulness as an important component of sustainable behavior and actions. What we think, feel, and experience ultimately dictate our actions and behaviors. Thus, the awareness cultivated through the practice of mindfulness is directly linked to sustainability. The Alive project hosts workshops with different mindfulness practices in order to cultivate the practice of awareness, connect it to sustainability, and support each other to feel alive.
The Eramus Sustainability Hub Webshop is your go-to spot for sustainable, long-lasting, and ethical products. Our Webshop supplies you with sustainable alternatives of everyday products, so that you can start making a positive change for your life and also our planet!
EcoCoin is a digital currency that encourages and rewards sustainable action. Started during the ESDs, it is the first sustainable currency worldwide to be used year round on a university campus. The EcoCoin EUR team aims to make the university campus more sustainable, starting by its students, by promoting the use of EcoCoin and encouraging the student body to be environmentally conscious!
